Red Land Black River (Jackson County Iron Mining) Book

Red Land Black River by John Pellowski. Mr. Pellowski was kind enough to trasnfer the copyright on this book to JCHS.  

Originally released in 2009, Eugene Gutknecht (former JCHS President) felt that a book on the history of mining in Jackson County could be used as a fundraiser for the Jackson County Historical Society.  He contacted BRF Senior High School Principal Rosanne Weber to seek help.  John Pellowski and his Senior Economics Class accepted the challenge.  Over a 3 year period, three different classes of seniors conducted about eighty interview and countless hours of research. The student's straightforward approach gives an amazingly thorough and easy to read history of all mining in Jackson County from 1824 to the present.
